Kim Kardashian pardons burglars who caused 'intense fear and alarm'

This spring, Kim Kardashian appeared at a Paris courthouse adorned in lavish diamonds, testifying in front of the men who, nine years earlier, had held her at gunpoint, bound her hands and feet, and stolen approximately $10 million in jewelry.

For her testimony, Kardashian chose to wear a black skirt suit complemented by a 22-carat ring, earrings, ear cuffs, and a necklace, reportedly valued at $3 million, designed by Samer Halimeh New York. Despite courtroom restrictions on cameras, her appearance was later shown in the December 4 episode of her family's Hulu series, The Kardashians.

Before taking the stand, Kardashians mother, Kris Jenner, questioned her choice to wear extravagant jewelry. The reality star explained that she wanted to reclaim her autonomy and confidence. Theyre not going to take my power, she said. I want to be who I want to be, and I feel like they took that away from me for so long.

The robbery occurred in October 2016, when a group of armed men entered the Paris apartment where Kardashian was staying with her sister Kourtney, former assistant Stephanie Shepherd, and childhood friend Simone Harouche. At the time, Kourtney and Shepherd had left, leaving Kim and Harouche alone. Kardashian recounted the terrifying ordeal during her testimony, describing moments of fear and confusion as the intruders posed as police and threatened the buildings concierge.

During the attack, Kardashian feared she might be sexually assaulted. At one point, he grabbed my feet and pulled me towards the bed, and I thought to myself, OK, hes going to rape you, she recalled. When I realized they werent going to, I thought I was going to die because he had taped over my mouth and eyes. The uncertainty was the most terrifying part.

After the robbers left, she ran for help and later reflected on the life-changing impact of the event. She said the experience reshaped her priorities, making her value relationships and life over material possessions.

In court, Kardashian also addressed the remorse expressed by one of the convicted men, Aomar Ait Khedache, who had written her a letter in 2017 acknowledging the trauma he caused. Touched, she told him, I forgive you. Thank you for your letter. She also confronted Yunice Abbas about the book he co-authored, I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, calling it distasteful but ultimately stating she forgave all the perpetrators for their past actions.

Kardashian, who has studied law and continues her legal pursuits, emphasized that the brief period of terror she endured would not define her life. Ive lived an amazing life! Eight or nine minutes of fear are not going to ruin me, she said, underscoring her resilience and strength in the face of past trauma.
