Margot Robbie Sets New Boundaries Regarding Baby Boy Discussion

Although Margot Robbie spoke openly about becoming a mother earlier this year, she has now chosen to keep her private life, particularly regarding her son, out of the spotlight. The actress, 35, graces the January issue of British Vogue, where she explained her decision to maintain privacy about her 1-year-old child.

Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley welcomed their first son in October 2024, though they have not shared his name publicly. Previously, Robbie had mentioned motherhood in interviews, and in one instance, her son could be heard crying in the background. However, Vogue noted that she has since experienced a shift in her approach toward discussing her family life.

"I'm trying to keep that side of things private and protect him," Robbie told the magazine. She reflected on her earlier openness, saying, "Earlier in my career, I'd speak more freely in interviews. I've just been burnt so many times, when people have taken what I've said out of context." She added, "I read stuff all the time where people put me in quotation marks saying things I've never said. I remember the first time, 10 years ago, seeing that in a newspaper and I could not get my head around it."

Robbie continued, "There was no way for me to change or control it. I just had to accept that. When you shift from your 20s to your 30s and beyond, you think, 'I am going to do things differently. Here are my new boundaries.'"

Earlier this year, while promoting A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, Robbie had spoken positively about motherhood, describing it as "the best" in an Entertainment Tonight interview. During the same press tour, her baby was briefly heard crying off-camera, prompting her to jokingly apologize for the noise. When asked about how motherhood had changed her views, she instead focused on her work and specific movie scenes.

Robbie stars in the upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, directed by Emerald Fennell, which is scheduled for release on February 13, 2026.
