Miley Cyrus Explains the Real Reason Behind Her Engagement to Maxx Morando

Miley Cyrus has opened up about an unusual phobia that has influenced a major decision in her life: getting engaged. The pop star recently announced her engagement to her boyfriend of four years, Maxx Morando, and revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that her long-standing fear of paper played a role.

Cyrus explained that her aversion to paper began in childhood, stemming from experiences with her brothers. Christmas has always been tricky for me because I hate paper, she said, recalling the discomfort she feels when people with dry hands touch it, especially during the holidays.

The singer admitted that the fear has intensified over time, affecting her daily life. Its getting worse, so Im considering therapy or EMDR treatment because it really interferes with my routine, Cyrus confessed, even while visibly gagging at the thought.

Humorously, Cyrus suggested that her engagement to Morando also helps her cope with this phobia. Now, my fianc handles all the packages. Cardboard is the worst, and with the extra packaging, its unbearable for me, she said. Honestly, thats the main reason I got engagedso someone else can deal with it outside.

When asked about traditional anniversary gifts, such as paper for the first year, Cyrus laughed and dismissed the idea. She confirmed she has no intention of following conventional gift-giving customs.

Cyrus first revealed her engagement while wearing a ring at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere, which also featured her original song. Discussing the logistics of signing the marriage certificate, she noted that smooth surfaces like waxed paper are tolerable, joking about her past marriage experiences in comparison.

She added that rolling papers arent an issue, humorously noting, First of all, my hands arent dry. And neither are the papers, even mimicking licking a paper to illustrate her point.

Her paper phobia traces back to family trips from Nashville to Canada, where her brothers would play pranks involving rubbing paper together, creating lasting discomfort for the young Cyrus.
