Meghan Markle has reached out to her father, Thomas Markle, following news that he underwent an urgent surgery to amputate his left leg and is currently receiving intensive care. I can confirm she has reached out to her father, a spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex confirmed.

The update follows statements from Thomas Markle Jr., who told the Daily Mail that the 81-year-old had his leg removed below the knee on December 3 in the Philippines, where he and his family have been living this year. He described the operation as a life or death situation, explaining that his fathers foot had turned blue then black, prompting doctors to recommend amputation.

While Meghans representative did not provide additional details, sources indicate that her contact with her father occurred shortly after news of his medical emergency became public.

Thomas Markle Jr. also shared that his father remains in an intensive care unit and that the next few days are critical as doctors monitor for potential infections. Thomass recent health crisis comes after years of medical struggles, including a stroke in 2022.

Meghan, 44, has been estranged from her father since just before her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Their strained relationship began after Thomas admitted to staging paparazzi photos and, according to Meghan, not being honest about his dealings with the press.
