Meghan contacts estranged father following reports of surgery

The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly tried to contact her father, Thomas Markle, who is said to be critically ill in a hospital in the Philippines. A representative confirmed, She has reached out to her father.

Reports indicate that Mr. Markle underwent surgery resulting in the amputation of his leg. It is unclear whether Meghans attempt to connect with him was successful.

The relationship between Meghan and Thomas Markle deteriorated prior to her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. During their engagement, Thomas Markle became the focus of intense media scrutiny. He was found to have cooperated with photographers, accepting payments for staged photos depicting him preparing for the wedding.

As a result of the controversy, Thomas Markle withdrew from attending the wedding, citing health concerns. King Charles III, then the Prince of Wales, accompanied Meghan down the aisle instead.

Since the wedding, there has been no confirmation of a restored relationship between Meghan and her father. Thomas Markle has not reportedly met Meghan and Harrys children, Archie and Lilibet.

In previous interviews, he criticized Meghan and Harrys decision to step back from royal duties and their remarks about the royal family.
