'Santa Clause' Actor Eric Lloyd Shares Touching Tale of Meeting a Dedicated Fan

Every holiday season brings a wave of nostalgia as fans revisit The Santa Clause series. Eric Lloyd, known for portraying Charlie Calvin, son of Tim Allens character, revealed that even after more than 30 years, people still recognize him from the movies.

Lloyd appeared in all three installments alongside Allen. Although there was an eight-year gap between the first and second films, he returned for the sequel fully grown. The second and third films were released only four years apart, so his appearance remained consistent. Nearly two decades after the final film, Lloyd continues to receive fan recognition.

Recalling an encounter during an interview with TV Insider, Lloyd shared a touching story from his time on Celebrity Weakest Link. If I shave my beard, I still get recognized, he laughed. He recounted a moment in Kentucky while working on a production: a couple at a nearby table approached him after dinner, asking if he was the child actor from The Santa Clause. Lloyd explained that he hadnt shared his childhood acting experience with the crew, so their surprise was genuine. Once they realized it was me, they were just thrilled. It still happens, he added.

Lloyd reflected fondly on the first movie, calling it his favorite and noting that it gets better with age. One of his most cherished memories involved exploring Santas workshop on set. The toy shop was incredible as a kid. It was a two-story set, and there was so much more than what was shown in the film. Downstairs, every stall featured different types of toys, including a massive two-story Erector Set of the Eiffel Tower. There were so many fascinating details everywhere, he recalled.

He also remembered discovering animatronic arms from Gremlins 2 in one of the stalls, a detail that amazed him as a seven-year-old. Seeing those familiar pieces from another movie was unforgettable, Lloyd said.

Although Lloyd isnt currently pursuing acting projects, audiences can still watch him in all three Santa Clause films and his appearance on Celebrity Weakest Link on Hulu. The movies are available on Disney+, and the game show episode airs on Mondays at 9/8c on FOX, streaming the next day on Hulu.
