Scarlett Johansson Considering New Role Opposite Robert Pattinson in 'The Batman Part II'

After nearly ten years portraying Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Scarlett Johansson may soon be stepping into the DC universe. Sources indicate that Johansson is in advanced discussions with DC Studios and director Matt Reeves to take on a significant new character in The Batman Part II.

If the negotiations are finalized, Johansson would join Robert Pattinson, who is confirmed to return as Bruce Wayne/The Batman in the sequel, which Reeves is both writing and directing. Production is slated to begin in the spring, with a theatrical release planned for October 1, 2027.

Details about Johanssons character and the storyline remain tightly under wraps, keeping fans guessing much like the mysteries of Waynes Batcave. Her participation follows a carefully arranged schedule that also includes starring in the upcoming Blumhouse-directed Exorcist film, ensuring she can manage both projects.

Reeves original The Batman marked a major post-pandemic release for Warner Bros., earning $369.3 million domestically and $772 million worldwide. Johansson, having concluded her tenure in the MCU, is now focusing on several high-profile projects. Alongside The Batman Part II and Exorcist, she played a role in reviving the Jurassic World franchise with Jurassic World: Rebirth, which grossed $868 million globally and has a sequel in development.

In addition to her acting work, Johansson recently made her directorial debut with Eleanor the Great, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and will appear in James Grays Paper Tiger alongside Miles Teller and Adam Driver. She is represented by CAA and Yorn Levine LLC.
