Donald Trump receives FIFA Peace Prize instead of Nobel Prize.

President Donald Trump was honored with the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize during the 2026 World Cup draw at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., on December 5, 2025. FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented Trump with a trophy, medal, and certificate, praising his contributions.

"Our goal is to bring people together, just as the World Cup does," Infantino said. "President Trump clearly embodies these values and is deserving of the first FIFA Peace Prize."

Trump, who has hinted at potential U.S. military actions in Venezuela, emphasized his role in resolving eight international conflicts. He called the FIFA Peace Prize "one of the greatest honors of my life" but has long expressed a desire to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump has frequently questioned why former President Barack Obama won the Nobel early in his term and has suggested he may never receive it himself. Despite this, several global leaders have publicly supported his nomination for future consideration.

In 2025, nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize closed on January 31. Although Trump was not considered for that year, multiple endorsements have surfaced for 2026. Pakistani officials cited his diplomatic efforts during an India-Pakistan crisis, while a U.S. congressman recommended him for his role in an Iran-Israel ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet have also expressed support for his candidacy.

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader Mara Corina Machado. While she acknowledged Trump's support, the White House criticized the decision, claiming politics influenced the outcome.

Trump's FIFA recognition highlights his continued focus on international diplomacy and ongoing pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize in the coming year.
