Erika Kirk's Comments on Young Women and Marriage Highlight Double Standard, Critics Say

Erika Kirk, known as the widow of Charlie Kirk and the CEO of Turning Point USA, recently shared her views on young women, career ambitions, and marriage, prompting widespread discussion online.

At 32, Kirk herself married later than the average age in the United States. She also leads four other organizations and holds both undergraduate and master's degrees.

During a session at the DealBook Summit in New York, she was asked about the popularity of Zohran Mamdani among younger voters. Her remarks focused on the choices of urban, career-oriented women.

"I lived in Manhattan for a while, and I loved this city," Kirk said. "I'm going to come at this from a female voter perspective, because a high percentage of his voters were female."

"There's a tendency, especially in a city like Manhattan, for women to be so career-driven that they view government as a replacement for certain aspects of personal life, like relationships," she added.

"What I dont want is for young women in the city to rely on the government instead of pursuing marriage and starting a family. I find it ironic that so many female voters supported him," Kirk concluded.

Her comments quickly drew criticism and sparked debate. Critics noted that universal childcare was a central part of Mamdanis platform, and some pointed out that Kirk herself delayed marriage and children until her 30s.

Observers also drew comparisons to historical figures who promoted traditional gender roles, while social media users highlighted what they saw as a double standard in her remarks.
