President Trump is convening a Cabinet session at the White House on Tuesday morning amid scrutiny over Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who faces allegations of war crimes connected to attacks on suspected drug trafficking vessels in the Caribbean.

The meeting follows confirmation from White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday that Hegseth approved a strike against a suspected drug boat on September 2. Leavitt noted that Admiral Frank Bradley was responsible for ordering a subsequent strike that resulted in fatalities among survivors. The administration has defended its actions as tensions with Venezuela continue to mount.

Meanwhile, Steve Witkoff is scheduled to visit Moscow on Tuesday to present Trumps peace proposal aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The visit coincides with increased immigration enforcement after the recent shooting of two National Guard members in Washington, D.C.

The Cabinet meeting is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. EST.
