In November 2025, attorney Mike Davis, known for his support of U.S. President Donald Trump, responded sharply to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords on the social media platform X regarding her message about Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, a 20-year-old National Guard member who was fatally shot in Washington, D.C. that month.
Giffords, who survived a mass shooting in 2011 that left her with serious brain injuries, had posted condolences to Beckstrom's family and friends, calling for action against gun violence. According to multiple social media archives, Davis replied to her post using strong profanity, directing his anger at her and her husband, Senator Mark Kelly, and other Democrats.
The real problem is your piece-of-sh*t husband @SenMarkKelly and other Democrats, who mass-import terrorists, demonize the National Guard members saving cities, and call on 18-year-old enlistees to disobey the President of the United States.
Davis made the post from his verified X account on November 28, 2025. Giffords original message read:
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom deserved a long, full life. My heart is with her family, friends, and fellow servicemembers. Gun violence steals too many futures. We must honor her by fighting for a safer countryone where all Americans are protected from gun violence.
Davis is the founder and president of the conservative advocacy organization The Article III Project. He previously worked as chief counsel for nominations under Senate Judiciary Chair Chuck Grassley and has advised top Trump administration officials, including former Attorney General Pam Bondi. He is a vocal supporter of Trump and his policies.
In his response to Giffords, Davis referenced a video shared on November 18, 2025, in which six Democratic members of Congress, including Senator Kelly, encouraged service members to refuse what they described as illegal orders. Trump later labeled these lawmakers' actions as seditious and called for their prosecution.
Snopes confirmed the authenticity of Davis post but was unable to reach him for additional comment.
