The United States Supreme Court has announced it will review a case concerning the long-established constitutional guarantee of citizenship for anyone born on American soil. This right, in place for over a century, is now facing legal scrutiny.
Earlier this year, President Donald Trump issued an executive order aimed at ending birthright citizenship, but lower courts blocked the measure, citing constitutional concerns. The Supreme Court's final decision will determine whether children of undocumented immigrants or those on temporary visas will retain automatic citizenship.
The justices will soon set a date for oral arguments, where both the government and the plaintiffsimmigrant families and their childrenwill present their positions. This case is expected to have major implications for citizenship laws in the United States.
