The White House unveiled a new media bias monitoring page on Friday, spotlighting news outlets it accuses of publishing content critical of the administration following recent verbal clashes between the president and journalists. The interactive website presents a collection of articles from multiple publications, linking to stories that the administration claims contain misleading information, misrepresentation, omitted context, bias, or journalistic errors.
According to a White House statement, the platform is designed to serve as a record of false and misleading news identified by The White House. The site features an offender hall of shame along with a ranking of media organizations whose articles are deemed inaccurate by the administration.
The Washington Post leads the list, followed by MSNBC (recently rebranded as MS NOW), CBS News, CNN, The New York Times, Politico, and The Wall Street Journal. Each of these outlets recently gave up their Pentagon press credentials after the Department of Defense introduced stricter reporting rules requiring prior approval from officials before publishing certain information.
The administration has recently engaged in legal disputes with The Wall Street Journal and reached an out-of-court settlement with CBS. In addition, President Trump has publicly criticized multiple reporters in recent weeks, including calling a New York Times correspondent a third-rate reporter who is ugly, both inside and out and referring to a Bloomberg journalist as Quiet piggy when asked about Jeffrey Epstein.
When The Washington Post was mentioned among the repeat offenders covering White House controversies, an internal spokesperson stated: The Washington Post is proud of its accurate, rigorous journalism.
The Hill is listed as a repeat offender for a single article, seemingly related to an opinion piece.
