For the second consecutive week, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings found himself involved in a tense exchange on the field. Last week, Jennings reacted after being struck below the belt by Carolina Panthers safety Trevon Moehrig, hitting Moehrig in retaliation. On Sunday, the situation escalated again during Clevelands 26-8 home defeat to San Francisco, this time involving Clevelands defense.
The incident occurred when Browns defensive lineman Maliek Collins was injured and later removed from the game due to a leg issue. After the game, defensive tackle Shelby Harris spoke about the confrontation, suggesting that Jennings crossed a line in his interactions with the Browns players.
"He's a ho, and I want that known. Like I see why he got punched in the nuts," Harris stated, according to WEWS reporter Camryn Justice. "He said some things that you should never say to another man. But I dont respect it because you say it and then hide behind your offensive line. Thats real soft stuff. I see exactly why they punched him in the nuts. Honestly, Im surprised nobody punched him in the jaw yet."
During the game, words were exchanged between Jennings and members of Clevelands defensive squad after Collins injury, and Harris comments made it clear that the Browns were displeased with Jennings approach.
Previously, Moehrig was suspended for one game for his low blow on Jennings, while Jennings hit Moehrig twice in response and was fined $12,172 for unnecessary roughness, including striking and kicking.
Harris frustration may have also been fueled by Clevelands struggles during the game. The Browns offense stalled in the second half, with quarterback Shedeur Sanders unable to generate many points despite a solid start. Cleveland failed to score after halftime, dropping their record to 3-9 after the loss to San Francisco.
Sanders will have another opportunity next week, starting again in Week 14 against the 1-11 Tennessee Titans.
