CM Punk has expressed his opinion on which former WWE World Champion would be the best choice to face John Cena in his final match. With Cena approaching the conclusion of his in-ring career, he has only two WWE appearances remaining: one at Survivor Series: WarGames this Saturday and his ultimate match on December 13 at WWE Saturday Night Main Event.
As Cena prepares to retire, Punk praised Cenas performance and the professionalism he has shown during his farewell run. During an interview with Kay Adams on the Up & Adams Show, Punk reflected on the surreal experience of seeing Cena so close to retirement and discussed the uncertainty surrounding whether Cena will retain the Intercontinental Championship or if Dominik Mysterio will claim it.
Punk stated, Cena is, you know, I think our Wayne Gretzky. Ive been saying hes somebody whos just kind of held it down for a very, very long time. And for him to wrap it up, I think, is like watching him exit with such style and grace and dignity. It has been a real treat. You know, we dont get to often say goodbye in real time to our sports heroes, so this is one time we can.
CM Punk Endorses Gunther as Cenas Final Opponent
When asked about his choice for Cenas last opponent from the Last Time Is Now tournament, Punk immediately selected Gunther. He explained, Whos the perfect opponent thats actually in the field? I mean, right now, I dont know if its perfect, but its looking like Gunther because Ive been in the ring with him, and I know what he can do, and I dont know who else in that tournament can beat him right now.
