The San Francisco 49ers earned a convincing 26-8 win on the road against the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field on Sunday, spoiling Shedeur Sanders first career start at home for Cleveland.
While San Francisco controlled the game, the win came at a cost. Linebacker Nick Martin was forced out with a concussion, left guard Ben Bartch exited due to a foot injury, and fullback Kyle Juszczyk left the field after suffering a rib issue. None of the trio returned to action.
After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan shared an early and somewhat positive update on Juszczyks condition.
"They didnt see anything broken right now, but were going to take another look tomorrow," Shanahan said.
Linebacker Curtis Robinson also briefly left the contest but was able to return and finish the game.
Shanahan was asked about quarterback Brock Purdys mobility following the turf toe injury that sidelined him for much of the 2025 season. According to the coach, there are no longer any concerns.
"When he came back, he was already at full strength. We havent seen any limitations since then. Hes moving well, rolling out, running everything looks good," Shanahan explained.
Purdy ended the afternoon completing 16 of 29 passes for 168 yards and a touchdown throw to Jauan Jennings. He also added a rushing touchdown to his stat line.
Several players were inactive for San Francisco, including defensive linemen Sam Okuayinonu and Kevin Givens, linebacker Tatum Bethune, wide receiver Jordan Watkins, offensive lineman Connor Colby, running back Jordan James, and kicker Eddy Pieiro.
With a bye week coming up in Week 14, the break arrives at an ideal time for the banged-up roster. After the week off, the 49ers will face a crucial four-game stretch that includes home matchups with Tennessee, Chicago, and Seattle, along with one road game against Indianapolis.
Currently sitting at 9-4, Shanahan expressed satisfaction with the teams position in the standings.
"I really like where were at. If the season ended today, wed be in the playoffs. Now weve got four more games to make sure of that. This is the latest bye week Ive ever had, and the guys definitely need it. Getting both mental and physical rest before this final stretch is huge for us," said Shanahan.
The team is scheduled to report on Monday for postgame recovery work and will also hold activities on Tuesday. Plans for the remainder of the bye week have not yet been finalized.
