NFL Announces Punishment for Chiefs Star During Season

The Kansas City Chiefs, guided by head coach Andy Reid, have endured an unusual year, entering the final stretch of the season with a 66 record. A team that opened the year expecting to pursue another Super Bowl run now finds itself battling simply to stay alive in the playoff race.

Kansas City recently navigated two significant challenges, facing the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 and the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13. With the margin for error shrinking, nearly every remaining matchup is critical. The Chiefs edged out the Colts 2320 in their first meeting but stumbled in their Thanksgiving Day matchup against Dallas.

Following the clash with the Cowboys, the NFL released its final list of disciplinary actions stemming from Week 12. Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie received a fine for unnecessary roughness after committing a face-mask penalty against Indianapolis. The league has ordered McDuffie to pay $11,593 as a result.

Kansas City incurred a second fine as well. Offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia was penalized $8,108 for an illegal blindside block in the fourth quarter of the game versus the Colts. Officials deemed the play an unnecessary roughness violation in favor of Indianapolis.

Both players are permitted to appeal their fines under league policy.
