A Doctor and His Spouse Found Dead from Gunshot Wounds — Potentially Linked to a Burned Body 75 Miles Away

Authorities in Simi Valley, California, are investigating the deaths of a married couple who were fatally shot outside their home. Officials suggest the killings may be connected to a potential suicide of an individual found dead near a burning vehicle, with a firearm discovered at the scene.

The victims have been identified as Dr. Eric Cordes, a radiologist, and his wife, Vicki Cordes. The incident occurred on November 30, when police responded to reports of gunfire at the residence. The couple was discovered in their driveway with multiple gunshot wounds and were transported to a nearby hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.

In a statement, Adventist Health Simi Valley expressed sorrow over the loss of Dr. Cordes and his wife, highlighting his nearly 30 years of service as a compassionate and respected physician in the community. Dr. Cordes also practiced at Focus Medical Imaging.

According to reports, a black sedan was seen leaving the area following the shooting. Later that day, police in Chino discovered a deceased individual near a burning black sedan, along with a gun. Authorities are examining whether these events are related, pending confirmation from the Coroners Office.

The identity of the person found near the burning vehicle has not been released, and the death is under investigation as a possible suicide. Local speculation mentioned the potential involvement of a stepson of one of the victims, but police have not confirmed this. Officials do, however, believe the couple was specifically targeted.
