Burna Boy to Cover Funeral Expenses for Children Killed in Stockton Birthday Party Mass Shooting

Burna Boy has announced he will cover the funeral expenses for four victims of a tragic mass shooting that took place at a childrens birthday party in North Stockton, California, on Saturday, November 29. The afrobeats superstar made the pledge after learning about the devastating incident.

Hearing about the children who lost their lives in Stockton broke my heart. After hearing the story on The Breakfast Club, I reached out to Wack 100 and connected with Jason Lee, because no family should endure such pain alone, Burna Boy stated. I want to support these parents as they start the long journey of healing.

The story of 14-year-old Amari Peterson, a talented student and athlete, particularly affected Burna Boy. Peterson was among those killed, along with children aged eight, nine, and a 21-year-old adult.

Jason Lee, Stockton Vice Mayor and founder of Hollywood Unlocked, praised Burna Boys compassion, saying, His generosity shows how people globally want to help, even if theyve never met the families affected. Taking childrens lives at a birthday party is unimaginable. That is not human.

Law enforcement continues to search for the shooter, who remains at large. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of multiple suspects. Approximately 100 guests were attending the party when gunfire erupted around 6 p.m. PT, leaving eleven people injured and hospitalized.

This charitable act is part of Burna Boys broader efforts to give back. Recently, he visited the Boston Arts Academy and committed to sponsoring the schools Free Bodega program, which provides daily support for students.
