Authorities reported that a devastating fire in an apartment complex in Neuves-Maisons, eastern France, resulted in the deaths of five individuals and left one person injured, according to Interior Minister Laurent Nuez on Sunday.
The local publication L'Est Rpublicain detailed that approximately 70 firefighters were deployed to combat the flames in the three-story building located in the heart of the town near Nancy. The incident occurred during the night, posing significant challenges for emergency services.
The fatalities included a couple, their teenage son, and two of his friends. Firefighters successfully managed to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to a neighboring structure.
