Bongino Shocks with Candid Confession on Fox News: 'Admits to Lying for Money and Plans to Do it Again'

During Thursday nights episode of Hannity, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino made an unexpectedly candid statement when asked about his previous comments suggesting that the January 6 pipe bombs at the DNC and RNC were potentially an inside job.

Bongino, who previously hosted on Fox News, has recently expressed frustrations with his current role and openly admitted he does not enjoy it. On the show, Sean Hannity and Bongino discussed the recent arrest of the individual responsible for placing the pipe bombs in 2021, a case that has fueled numerous conspiracy theories on the right.

Hannity reminded Bongino of his earlier remarks, saying: Before you were deputy FBI director, you posted on X that there was a massive cover-up and implied the person behind the pipe bombs was connected to Trump insiders. This was long before your current role.

Bongino responded, Thats why I said the investigations just beginning. Were confident we have the right person. He then stunned viewers with a frank explanation for his previous statements: Listen, I was paid in the past for my opinions. Thats clear. One day I may return to that space, but now Im paid to serve as deputy director, and our investigations are based on facts.

The clip quickly went viral, prompting widespread commentary. Media reporter Joe Perticone highlighted Bonginos admission: Deputy FBI director says he lied for money and will likely do it again in the future.

Other reactions included:

  • Tom Nichols of The Atlantic: Holy crap, what an admission.
  • Edward-Isaac Dovere: The deputy director of the FBI, who once portrayed himself as a truth teller, now admits he was just saying stuff back then and may do so again.
  • Lawrence Hurley: A very candid admission about how the right-wing media landscape operates.
  • Jim LaPorta: Opinions come freely; facts must be pursued. Its harder to find truth than echo noise.
  • Adam Parkhomenko: Does he realize what he just admitted?
  • Art Vandelay: I give Bongino credit for being honest about misleading people in exchange for payment in his previous media career.
  • Dan Shafer: A remarkably telling comment!
  • RJC: Not many people admit this. I appreciate the candor.
