All you need to know about Season 3 of 'Landman' as Billy Bob Thornton receives Critics Choice Award nomination

On the same day Billy Bob Thornton was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for his role as Tommy Norris in the second season of Landman, Paramount+ confirmed the renewal of the series for a third season. Season 2 has already broken viewership records for the streaming platform, with the premiere episode attracting over 9.2 million views in its first two daysan increase of 262% compared to Season 1's debut, making it the most-watched premiere of any original series on Paramount+.

The second season, consisting of 10 episodes, premiered on November 16, with the finale set for January 18. During its debut week, the show ranked among the top three original series and rose to the top two in the following week, according to Nielsen data. As Season 2 continues airing every Sunday, details about Season 3 remain scarce.

Cast

Billy Bob Thornton stars as Tommy Norris, leading an ensemble that includes Oscar-winning and nominated actors. Demi Moore plays Cami Miller, the owner of M-Tex Oil. Andy Garcia portrays Danny "Gallino" Morrell, a powerful cartel figure, while Sam Elliott appears as T.L. Norris, Tommy's father. Ali Larter rounds out the main cast as Angela Norris, Tommy's ex-wife. Further additions to the cast for Season 3 will be announced later.

Announcement

Paramount+ officially revealed the Season 3 renewal on December 5, when only three episodes of Season 2 had aired. The remaining episodes will continue to release weekly on Sundays until the mid-January finale.

Plot

The network describes the story as: "As oil rises from the earth, so do secrets and Tommy Norris' breaking point may be closer than he realizes. Facing pressure from M-Tex Oil, Cami Miller, and the shadow of his family, survival in West Texas is unforgiving. Eventually, something has to give."

Landman is executive produced by co-creators Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, alongside Billy Bob Thornton, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, Stephen Kay, Dan Friedkin, Jason Hoch, J.K. Nickell, and Megan Creydt. Tommy Turtle serves as co-executive producer. Sheridan is the primary writer and director, joined by Stephen Kay and Michael Friedman as directors. Andrew Lockington composed the series' music.

Awards

Season 1 received recognition from the Golden Globes, Satellite Awards, Astra Creative Arts Awards, Golden Trailer Awards, Hollywood Music In Media Awards, and Location Managers Guild International Awards. For Season 2, Thornton earned a 2026 Critics Choice nomination for Best Drama Actor, competing with Sterling K. Brown, Diego Luna, Mark Ruffalo, Adam Scott, and Noah Wyle. Additional accolades are expected as the season progresses.

The Sheridan Universe

Taylor Sheridan, the series co-creator, is also behind the Yellowstone franchise and its spin-offs, including 1883, 1923, and Y: Marshals. His other series include Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Lioness, The Last Cowboy, The Road, Tulsa King, and Mayor of Kingstown. Sheridan received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Hell or High Water (2016).
