The hit series Landman has struck gold once again, as Paramount+ confirmed the show will return for a third season. The announcement came Friday, highlighting the continued success of Taylor Sheridans West Texas-set drama, starring Billy Bob Thornton.
Since its debut, Landman has captivated audiences. Its first season became one of the most-watched shows of 2024-25, attracting an average of 15.8 million viewers across Nielsens 35-day, cross-platform ratings.
The currently airing second season is breaking new records. Its November 16 premiere became the largest season or series launch in Paramount+ history, drawing 9.2 million viewers globally within the first few days, more than tripling the series debut numbers from last year. The fourth episode of season two is set to air this Sunday, and the team behind the series suggests that even more storylines lie ahead.
Showrunner Christian Wallace, who co-created the series with Sheridan, explained, Season one only scratched the surface, and even after season two, theres so much more to explore. Weve really just begun. Season one spanned ten days, and season two follows a similar timeline. Wallace added, Weve deepened our understanding of these characters in season one, and season two allows us to elevate the stakes. West Texas, the oil and gas world, Fort Worth its a rich setting for storytelling. Our cast brings tremendous depth, making it easy to deliver engaging stories.
Billy Bob Thornton has signed a multi-year deal covering four to five seasons, expressing a desire to continue Landman as long as possible or until the narrative naturally concludes. His co-stars, including Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, and Michelle Randolph, echoed this sentiment, noting that the series still has extensive storylines to explore. Randolph said, By the end of season two, theres so much left for these characters. The show could continue for a long time without running out of material.
Season two focuses on Thorntons character, oil fixer Tommy Norris, as he navigates increased responsibilities running M-Tex Oil alongside widowed CEO Cami Miller (Demi Moore), while balancing family pressures. The season also features Andy Garcia, Jacob Lofland, Paulina Chvez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore. Landman is adapted from the Texas Monthly podcast Boomtown, hosted by Wallace.
The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridans Bosque Ranch Productions, with executive producers including Sheridan, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Wallace, Thornton, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and director Stephen Kay. Additional executive producers include Dan Friedkin, Jason Hoch, J.K. Nickell, Megan Creydt, and co-executive producer Tommy Turtle.
