Disney Executive Denies Rumors of Live-Action Zootopia Movie

Following the massive success of Zootopia 2 in theaters, which is breaking box office records worldwide, speculation has grown about potential new projects in the franchise. Recently, rumors circulated online suggesting that Disney might be planning a live-action version of Zootopia, including viral posts on Twitter/X and AI-generated fan images.

The rumor gained attention when a Twitter account claimed Disney was developing a live-action Zootopia remake in a style similar to the live-action Lion King. Jared Bush, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and co-director of both Zootopia films, quickly dismissed the report, responding simply: "Not True."

It soon became clear that the original Twitter account spreading the rumor was a parody account. Bush acknowledged the mistake in a follow-up tweet, and fans responded positively, praising Zootopia 2 and thanking him for the film.

Alongside these social media rumors, fake posters suggesting a live-action adaptation have been circulating online, particularly on Facebook. These images are entirely fan-made and not associated with Disney.

Zootopia 2 Box Office Success

The newly released Zootopia 2 has set unprecedented records, surpassing $520 million globally in its opening weekend. This marks the largest worldwide opening ever for an animated film and positions it among the top five openings for any movie. In China, the film became the first Hollywood release to exceed $100 million in a single day, overtaking previous record-holder Avengers: Endgame.

In the story, rookie officers Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) navigate a mysterious upheaval in Zootopia caused by Gary De'Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan). To solve the case, they venture into unfamiliar areas of the city, testing their teamwork in unexpected ways.

The film has received widespread acclaim from audiences in the United States and internationally, continuing to break box office records and reinforce Disney's success in animated storytelling.
