Lainey Wilson Reaches Milestone Achievement Alongside Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift

Lainey Wilson, the 33-year-old country music sensation, has added another remarkable achievement to her already stellar year. The CMA Entertainer of the Year has officially scored her ninth No. 1 single at country radio with Somewhere Over Laredo. The song has also made history by becoming Wilsons ninth Top 10 hit on Billboards Hot Country Songs chart. With this success, she now ranks just behind Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift, tying Maren Morris for third place among solo female artists for the total number of Top 10 hits.

Recent Triumph at the 2025 CMA Awards

This accomplishment adds to Wilsons growing legacy as one of the leading female voices in country music. She recently hosted the 2025 CMA Awards solo and took home three awards, including the evenings highest honor: Entertainer of the Year. Her momentum continues as she heads into the 68th Annual Grammy Awards with three nominations: Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song for Somewhere Over Laredo, and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for Trailblazer, alongside Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert.

About Somewhere Over Laredo

Wilson co-wrote Somewhere Over Laredo with Trannie Anderson, Andy Albert, and Dallas Wilson. The track also credits Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, as it incorporates the melody from the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz song, Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Performance Highlights

The song is featured on the deluxe edition of Wilsons album Whirlwind. She recently performed it during the 99th annual Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, showcasing her vibrant stage presence to a national audience.
