Vanity Fair and Olivia Nuzzi Part Ways: Decision Made for Magazine's Best Interest

Vanity Fair has decided to end its professional relationship with Olivia Nuzzi, the writer and West Coast editor, concluding a brief tenure that faced controversy due to multiple reported and alleged breaches of journalistic standards.

Vanity Fair and Olivia Nuzzi have mutually agreed, in the magazines best interest, to allow her contract to conclude at year-end, stated a joint announcement from the publication and Nuzzis representative. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report the news of her departure.

Nuzzi, author of American Canto, joined the Cond Nast magazine as West Coast Editor in September, following her dismissal from New York magazine in 2024 amid reports of a personal relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The situation intensified when Nuzzis former fianc, Ryan Lizza, made additional allegations questioning her journalistic conduct, prompting Vanity Fair to review their professional association. A spokesperson told TheWrap in November that the claims were unexpected and that the magazine was examining all the facts.
