A man has been taken into custody after another individual was injured during a dog attack in York.
North Yorkshire Police reported that officers responded around 15:15 GMT on Friday following alerts about several dogs running loose in Bellhouse Way. During the incident, one large Alsatian-type dog bit a man on the leg, resulting in deep wounds, and subsequently pursued a local delivery driver.
Due to the aggressive behavior of the dog, firearms officers were forced to put the animal down. A man in his 50s was later arrested on suspicion of owning or being responsible for a dog dangerously out of control causing injury.
The injured man received hospital treatment, while the suspect remains in police custody. Authorities temporarily closed the road citing "serious risk of danger" to the public. The road reopened at approximately 16:30 GMT.
