Emergency crews evacuated occupants from an apartment block after a serious fire tore through the property, according to the fire service.
Firefighters were called to a building on Marigold Road in Frome, Somerset, at 18:51 GMT on Wednesday. During the incident, part of the roof gave way, although no serious injuries were reported.
As a result of extensive damage caused by flames, smoke, and water, dozens of residents have been placed in temporary accommodation.
The fire was fully brought under control at 02:26 GMT. Avon and Somerset Police have launched an investigation into the cause.
A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews worked steadily to contain the blaze and ensured that everyone in the building was safely evacuated and accounted for. Investigators believe the fire started in a second-floor flat.
The structural stability of the building has been affected due to the partial collapse of the roof.
One individual was treated at the scene by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
