Andrew Scott to star in season 3 of 'The Comeback' alongside Lisa Kudrow

Emmy-nominated actor Andrew Scott is set to appear in the third and concluding season of HBOs comedy series The Comeback, reuniting with Lisa Kudrow in her final portrayal of Valerie Cherish. The announcement was made by HBO and Max content chief Casey Bloys during the 2026 Content Showcase in London, highlighting Scott, known for his role in Fleabag, as the newest addition to the cast.

The highly anticipated season is scheduled to premiere in March, marking Valerie Cherishs return two decades after the original series premiered and more than ten years since the second season aired. Scotts notable credits include All of Us Strangers, A Place in Hell, Ripley, Black Mirror, and the upcoming Wake Up Dead Man.

Michael Patrick King, co-creator of And Just Like That, has collaborated with Kudrow to develop the final season. Original cast members Dan Bucatinsky, Laura Silverman, and Damian Young will also reprise their roles. Kudrow and King expressed their excitement upon the renewal, stating, Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape. Neither of us are surprised she did.

The series continues to satirize the entertainment industry in modern Los Angeles. Valerie, once the star of the sitcom Im It!, returns to television in a new network sitcom while allowing her career and life to be documented for a show titled The Comeback. Season 2 featured Valerie playing a fictionalized version of herself on HBOs Seeing Red, exploring the world of a writer and producer who had troubled her years earlier. The narrative approach for Season 3 promises further layers of meta-commentary.

Additional cast members announced include Tim Bagley, Matt Cook, Jack OBrien, Ella Stiller, John Early, Barry Shabaka Henley, Abbi Jacobson, Tony Macht, Brittany OGrady, Zane Phillips, and Julian Stern. The series will be executive produced by John Melfi, Dan Bucatinsky, Michael Patrick King, and Lisa Kudrow.
