Maurice DuBois to Depart from "CBS Evening News" Following John Dickerson's Announcement

Maurice DuBois has confirmed that he will leave CBS Evening News, less than a year after becoming co-anchor alongside John Dickerson. DuBois' departure marks the end of a 21-year career with CBS, including his time at WCBS-TV in New York.

In an Instagram post on December 4, DuBois, 60, announced that December 18 will be his final broadcast. Reflecting on his career, he described his time at the network as the honor of a lifetime and expressed gratitude for the relationships and experiences he gained. He wrote about the privilege of bringing news to viewers and meeting extraordinary people throughout his career.

DuBois announcement comes only weeks after his co-anchor, John Dickerson, revealed that he will also leave CBS at the end of the year. Dickerson shared on Instagram that he is thankful for his 16 years at the network and for the colleagues who have helped him grow both professionally and personally.

The exits of DuBois and Dickerson are part of broader changes at CBS News following corporate shifts, including Skydances $8 billion acquisition of Paramount, CBS parent company. This comes in the wake of a legal settlement with former President Donald Trump regarding a 60 Minutes segment on Kamala Harris' 2024 campaign appearances.

DuBois and Dickerson had been appointed as co-anchors in August 2024, taking over after Norah O'Donnell left the evening news program after a 12-year tenure. At the time, CBS News leadership highlighted a strategy to reimagine and redesign the Evening News, emphasizing the strength of the networks ensemble of journalists.

Following DuBois announcement, Dickerson paid tribute to his co-anchor, highlighting his dedication to covering major events with empathy and precision. He noted DuBois commitment to telling important stories and navigating live broadcasts seamlessly, praising their teamwork and mutual respect developed over the months.

Throughout his 21 years at CBS, DuBois anchored CBS New York, appeared on CBS Mornings, 48 Hours, 60 Minutes Sports, and CBS Sunday Morning. Earlier in his career, he worked at NBC News on programs including Today, Dateline, MSNBC, and NBC News at Sunrise.
