Warning: This article contains spoilers for season 5, episode 4 of Stranger Things, titled Sorcerer.

Netflix has released footage capturing the shocked reactions of the Stranger Things cast as they discovered a pivotal twist from Volume 1: Will Byers possesses his own supernatural abilities. The moment unfolded during the table read for season 5, when Noah Schnapps castmates first learned of his characters new powers.

In the clip, co-creator Matt Duffer reads the dramatic sequence from the episodes final moments, revealing that Will uses his abilities to stop a group of demogorgons before they can attack his friends. The Demos arms suddenly freeze, held back by an invisible force, Duffer narrates, describing the scene as Mike witnesses the creature thrashing helplessly before the camera moves to Will.

The cast reacts instantly. Gaten Matarazzo stares wide-eyed at his script, placing a hand on his head. Natalia Dyer raises her eyebrows, Charlie Heaton looks up with a grin, and Millie Bobby Browns jaw drops when Duffer continues reading: Will rises, hands extended toward the creature, his eyes a solid white as he exerts control over the Demogorgon. When another one leaps at Lucas, Will effortlessly halts it with a second outstretched hand.

Schnapp beams as Duffer continues, explaining how Wills power expands across the battlefield. Robin watches in disbelief as the creatures freeze around her, while Mike, Lucas, and Robin look on as the monsters lift ten feet into the air. The script goes on to describe Will violently destroying all three demogorgons. A brief cut shows Schnapp making a playful face at Jamie Campbell Bower, who bursts into laughter.

Will drops to his knees in the flames, Duffer reads, as Brown and Schnapp begin celebrating in their seats. When he opens his eyes, theyre normal againbut now filled with a new calm and strength. He is in control. He is a sorcerer. The scene ends with blood sliding from Wills nose as Volume 1 concludes.

The cast erupts into applause. Youre one of me! Brown cheers, grabbing Schnapps arm before joking about the nosebleed his new powers come with.

Schnapp previously shared that he discovered Wills transformation while reading the script ahead of the table read, describing the reveal as whiplash. To embody the characters intensity, he said he drew inspiration from the movements and presence of a 6,000-pound silverback gorilla. After filming the sequence, he noted that it required only one take.

Fans wont have to wait long to see how Wills new abilities alter the final chapter. Volume 2 arrives on Netflix on Christmas Day, with the series finale premiering both in theaters and on the streaming platform on New Years Eve.
