Meghan McCain Responds to Fat-Shaming on Tucker Carlson's Podcast

Meghan McCain has publicly addressed comments about her weight made by far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos during an appearance on Tucker Carlsons podcast.

In a post on X on Thursday, McCain wrote, I am aware that on the latest episode of Tucker Carlsons show, a topic of discussion with his guest was my weight specifically how fat I am.

The remarks came during Wednesdays episode, when Yiannopoulos referred to McCain as her fathers fat friend while discussing closeted gay individuals in conservative circles. He added, Hes even got the fat friend. Its his daughter. He even bred the fat best friend.

Yiannopoulos went on to make further disparaging comments about McCains appearance, saying, Is there a more ostentatious person in America than Meghan McCain? She hates herself. Shes fat. Shes crazy. Shes every gay mans dream.

McCain responded candidly, noting her pregnancy and embracing her body: Yes, I am very fat, Im almost 9 months pregnant with my third child. I am also very happy.

While Carlson did not directly comment on her weight, he asked Yiannopoulos why McCain was considered every gay mans dream, to which Yiannopoulos replied with a controversial explanation about societal treatment of women.

In her X post, McCain criticized Carlsons conduct, highlighting the contradiction between his public Christian image and the discussion that unfolded on his show. This kind of meanness toward women and hypocrisy is a classic example of why the right has such a problem with women voters of my generation, she wrote.

McCain also reflected on her long experience with public scrutiny, saying, Dont feel bad for me, people have been calling me fat since I started in media at age 22. It is old, lazy, tired. I dont make my living off of ugliness like that and truly cant fathom what life is like for anyone who does. It must be very dark.
