Scarlett Johansson Faces Family Criticism for Naming Son Cosmo with Colin Jost

Scarlett Johansson shared that some of her family members were not entirely supportive when she and her husband, Colin Jost, revealed the name of their son, Cosmo. The actress, 41, discussed the topic while guest co-hosting the Today with Jenna & Friends show on December 4.

Johansson explained that she deliberately kept the name a secret initially to avoid awkward reactions. When we named our son Cosmo, I didnt tell anyone right away. I wanted to avoid those strange reactions where people make faces and youre left wondering if they like it, she said.

She mentioned that her mother appreciated the name, recalling a personal connection to it from childhood. However, her mother-in-law expressed confusion over why they chose Cosmo instead of a more conventional variant, like Cosimo.

Johansson and Jost share their 4-year-old son Cosmo. Johansson is also mother to 11-year-old daughter Rose Dorothy from her previous marriage to Romain Dauriac.

In addition, Johansson discussed how she and Jost manage parenting alongside their busy careers. She mentioned that they rely on the support of two reliable babysitters to help maintain balance. We really couldnt do it without them. Its a challenge to juggle two hectic schedules, but we do as much as we can, she explained.

Johansson emphasized the importance of routines for her children and acknowledged the ongoing struggle of balancing work and parenting responsibilities. She highlighted the value of sharing duties and communicating effectively to manage the demands of family life.
